The 2024 BFI London Film Festival has announced its dates, with the biggest film festival in the U.K. set to be held Oct. 9-20. The late-in-the-year slot has traditionally given the event the opportunity to program some of the most notable films from the summer festivals while also showcasing some of the biggest titles from the U.K. In 2023, the LFF opened with the European premiere of “Saltburn,” and included screenings of “Maestro,” “The Holdovers,” “Poor Things” and “Priscilla,” but also featured the world premieres of “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget,” and “The Book of Clarence.”

Submissions of the U.K. and Irish shorts and features are still open for the 2024 festival. The final date for entry is May 24.

Busan‘s Asian Contents and Film Market (ACFM) has appointed Ellen Y. D. Kim as director. Her four-year term commences March 8. She previously held several positions within the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in the 1990s, including program team manager and planning and budget team manager. In addition, she played a crucial role in establishing ACFM in 2006. She has produced arthouse films, including “Cry Woman” (2002), “Night And Day” (2008), “Hanaan” (2011) and “Sewing Sisters” (2020). Kim has also served as program director at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.  

“Kim has cultivated a robust network and in-depth understanding of market operations and the content industry. Her vision for ACFM includes initiatives such as expert governance representing the Asian film industry and a platform dedicated to showcasing innovative technologies and content,” ACFM said in a statement.

Meanwhile, BIFF has invited applications for the position of festival director.

The 29th BIFF will be held from Oct. 2-11, while the ACFM will be held from Oct. 5-8.
