The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has suspended their strike action which began on April 29. News filtering in states that the strike which has kept student off school is now off. ASUP president, Mr. Chibuzor Asumogba had yesterday revealed that the committee will meet today to check the progress of the civil action. The ASUP Chairman, Dr. Chibuzor Asumogba, told reporters that the decision was made by NEC as a result of the Senate intervention in conjunction with the House of representative on Education.

A 23-year-old woman identified as Ummakulsum Sani Buhari has been allegedly stabbed to death by a Chinese man. The incident happened at Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso local government area of Kano. The development was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in Kano State, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. Naija News learnt that the incident happened around 10 pm on Friday after the Chinese man came to visit Ummakulsum at her parents’ house located adjacent National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) office.
